Strengthening Faith-Based Leaders and Organizations
Faith communities often possess the compassion and commitment to serve but may need stronger leadership, systems, knowledge, and partnerships to respond effectively.
DWA equips churches, ministries, mosques, synagogues, and other faith-based entities through:

Building Trust Across Differences
Strong communities are built when people are willing to come to the same table.
DWA brings together faith leaders, community organizations, service providers, and other stakeholders to identify shared concerns, exchange knowledge, develop partnerships, and create coordinated responses to community needs.
Our Christian foundation remains central to who we are. At the same time, we recognize that the call to welcome the stranger, care for vulnerable people, and uphold human dignity is shared across faith traditions.
We do not gather to debate whose faith is right. We begin where we agree, build trust across our differences, and work together for the good of those who need us.
Living the Mandate Through The Sanctuary
Through The Sanctuary, DWA puts the principles it teaches into practice.
The Sanctuary provides confidential temporary housing and compassionate, Christ-centered support for immigrant and displaced women and their children experiencing crisis or transition.
It demonstrates what can happen when faith is translated into practical care—when the stranger is welcomed, vulnerability is met with dignity, and support addresses the whole person.
The lessons DWA learns through this direct service also inform how we equip other faith communities to respond with compassion, wisdom, cultural understanding, and effective systems.
Our Capacity-Building Focus
Leadership and Governance
We help faith-based entities strengthen leadership, clarify responsibilities, improve governance practices, and build cultures of accountability and shared stewardship.
Organizational Systems and Sustainability
We support organizations in developing the structures, plans, policies, programs, and funding readiness necessary to fulfill their missions effectively over time.
Immigrant-Responsive Ministry
We help faith communities understand the experiences of immigrants, refugees, and diaspora populations and develop welcoming, culturally responsive ways to support integration, participation, and belonging.
Training and Technical Assistance
We provide workshops, organizational assessments, individualized guidance, peer learning opportunities, and practical tools tailored to the needs of faith-based entities.
